Fog Pocket Squadron Pro
With the greatest headlights you can buy for a JK, visibility out front wasn't bad at night, but that doesn't mean there isn't room for improvement. What makes a great headlight, doesn't make a great off-road light, and we wanted more. For most trail duty, we wanted a nice wide soft edged light in a selective yellow color to reduce eye strain in thick dust, so we installed a Baja Designs Squadron Pro Fog Pocket Kit as the AEV bumper reuses the factory fogs, and the Baja Designs kit drops right in. We then swapped for Amber Wide Cornering Lenses to get that soft wide amber we were looking for.
We can't leave anything alone.
While the fitment is good just the way they intended, we wanted a tighter look, so we mounted the Baja Designs brackets on the front of the OE Fog light brackets instead of the rear. We then elongated the holes in the bumper to allow us to push the lights even further forward.
On the left you'll see the lights mounted as intended, and on the right you'll see how ours are mounted now. Worth the little extra effort I think.
Wiring the lights
As for wiring, we ran these up to an output on our modified sPod BantamX Switch panel. We did install the fog light wire harness pigtails that come with the kit, but used them to run a set of S2 SAE fogs cut into the lower AEV skid instead of these.
How we like them:
This has been one of the better lighting mods on the Jeep as the wide, soft, amber light is perfect for almost every off-road scenario. Combined with a pair of S1 Wide cornering lights cut into the wings of the bumper, we have all the near field light we want on tight technical trails at night.
