Why we went with the S2 SAE Fogs
After considering all the options for our Jeep, we decided to utilize the nice big fog light openings in our AEV front bumper for much higher output lighting than would be appropriate for fog lights. We still wanted respectful and legal fogs, but didn't want to tie up perfectly good 4" holes for them. Fogs should really be mounted as low as possible on a vehicle to light the road and not the particles in the air. The answer was to enlarge the Hi-Lift holes in the AEV skit to allow fitment of a par of Baja Designs S2 SAE fog lights. They needed to be installed deep enough to not take damage from the jack, so we measured the depth, set up a test, and looked at the pattern. We measured he height and width of the beam at the required distance to determine the opening size like this:

Installing the Fog Lights
The new shape was drawn onto the lower skid before we drilled the corners out with a 1/2" drill bit. We then cut out the offending metal before finishing the opening out nicely with some of our favorite tools:

Speaking of our favorite tools, here's all the power tools we used to make this happen:

We then made our own brackets for these, so they could mount deep enough in the hole. They were cut from some aluminum angle and painted black to disappear into the shadows:

With the lights bolted to the back of the AEV winch plate on our new brackets, it was time to wire them. This was a pice of cake as we simply plugged them into the stock JK fog harness using the Baja Designs harness adapters included with our Squadron Pro Fog Pocket Kit. Here's a closer look at one of the lights installed:

How they perform:
These fogs are wildly better than the stock incandescent fogs our JK left the factory with. They might be small, but they sure are mighty. Baja Designs really nailed the optics on these as they produce a very even pattern out ahead of the Jeep with a razor sharp cutoff. Despite the impressive output, they are mere candles in comparison to the rest of the lighting we've added to our Jeep. They are really only used for public highways and/or VERY foggy or dusty environments where the sharp cutoff and low mounted height are necessary.
