S1 Amber Wide Cornering in Bumper Wings

We wanted to widen our amber lighting a bit beyond what the Squadron Pro Wide Cornering provided, so we cut a pair of Baja Designs S1 lights into the bumper wings.  The intent is to fill an otherwise dark area between the forward facing lighting and the side lighting

Installing the S1 lights

We spent a bit of time determining where we wanted them, and then drilled a pair of 2.5" holes in the bumper wings. We did this using our favorite Hougen hole-cutter as it easily produces a very nice cut, unlike a typical hole-saw. Here you can see fresh hole, and the S1 positioned where we want it  prior to bracket design:

With the hole cut, we used some 1.5x.125 steel flat bar to make a pair of brackets. This was a fairly simple task that involved cutting them to shape, hammering the 90° angle into them, and drilling them for mounting holes. Here you can see the brackets test-fitted before paint, and finally painted awaiting install:

The final detail was to give these lights round faces so they fit the hole like they were made for it. We used SendCutSend to laser cut some faces from .125" 6061-T6 aluminum before painting them with the same black Steel-It we use elsewhere on the Jeep. Here you can see them next to the factory faces:

Final Thoughts

These lights do exactly what we want them to do — they fill the gap between the main forward facing lights, and the S1 work/scene lights we have mounted in the fender flares, fenders, and rear quarters. Baja Designs S1 lights may be small, but they pack a lot of power, and these add a lot of width to the pattern.

To be transparent as possible, I want to add that we bought these lights retail through an authorized reseller. Also, we will earn some commission if you buy through one of our provided links. If you found this information useful, and want to help us out, click a link on this page to shop and we'll earn a couple percent. This does not affect the price you pay, and we greatly appreciate it! In fact, any shopping through our affiliate links, like this one to Amazon.com, and this one for Summit Racing, works the same way. For the full affiliate disclosure and vendor list, click here. I wish you the best of luck with your lighting project - Thanks for visiting!
